In the event of a claim
In the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim on your Unity insurance policy, you will have direct access to the experienced Hiscox, UK based claims team who will do all they can to assist you with your problem.
If you have been notified of a problem with your work which is likely to lead to a claim against your business for compensation, even if you disagree with the complaint being made, please let us know as soon as possible. Any withholding of payment and suggestions of a complaint should also be notified. Similarly, if you become aware of a shortcoming in your work it is recommended that you contact us. If in doubt, it is always best to notify us.
What you need to make a claim
The more information that we receive at the point that the claim is notified to us, the better placed we are to determine the right next step for the claim and defend it where appropriate.
It is very important that you do not accept any responsibility for damage or loss caused to a third party, and all correspondence received from the third party or anyone acting on their behalf (e.g. insurers, solicitors or claims management firms) is passed to us immediately and not responded to.
How to make a claim
To notify us of a claim or potential claim please complete our Professional Indemnity Medical Malpractice notification form which contains guidance you on the key details to provide, in addition to supporting documentation. If you prefer not to use this claim form please provide an account of the problem in addition to the relevant documents.
These may include a letter of claim if applicable and any subsequent correspondence, the contract/terms of engagement/letter of appointment between you and the claimant or, if unavailable, a brief outline as to the working relationship between the parties. A chronology of events leading up to the problem and your view as to whether they are open to criticism would also be useful to send to us. You should also include contact details of the key people involved. Please also provide information on the likely amount of the claim, or if not known, your estimations as to the value.
Please always ensure you provide your Hiscox policy number.

If a claim has already been reported to us please contact the relevant Hiscox Claims Underwriter directly or call the phone number quoted above giving our claim reference, or the policy number.
